Out of Hours Doctors and Dentists
For emergency advice or treatment please call: 111 between 6.30pm to 9.30pm - Monday to Thursday, 9.00am to 6.00pm at weekends, 9.00am to 5.00pm and 6.00pm to 9.00pm on bank holiday weekends and bank holidays.
Out of hours cover does NOT deal with the following:
Prescriptions for medicines that can be bought at the chemist
Repeat prescriptions
Second opinions on problems being dealt with by your doctor
Problems that can wait until your surgery is open

Minor Injury Units (MIUs) and First Aid Units
Minor Injury Units are for injuries such as deep cuts, eye injuries, broken bones, severe sprains, minor head injuries, minor burns and scalds. You don not need an appointment to visit an MIU. They are run by a team of highly qualified Nurse Practitioners with a lot of experience and expertise in the treatment of minor injuries.

This service is available seven days a week, 10am to 10.30pm.
X-ray opening times at this MIU for MIU patients ONLY are as follows:
Monday to Friday 10am - 6.30pm
Saturday 10am - 6.30pm
Sunday 12pm - 4pm.
If you are attending as a GP referral for x-ray, please attend during the following times:
Monday to Friday 10am - 1.30pm and 2.30pm - 5pm
Saturday 11am - 1.30pm and 2.30pm - 5pm
Sunday 12pm - 4pm
First Aid Units do not have X-Ray support. It is best to call prior to attending if you are concerned that and X-Ray may be required.

This service is open Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays) 8.30am to 6.30pm.
Accident and Emergency
For life threatening conditions please call 999 . You should only attend Emergency Departments (A&E) if you are very badly hurt or if you become very seriously ill (life-threatening). This would include life threatening choking; chest pain; blacking out; severe blood loss or severe breathing difficulty. There are Emergency Departments at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, the Horton General Hospital in Banbury and the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading.

Walk-In Centres
NHS walk-in centres (WICs) offer convenient access to a range of treatments. They are usually managed by a nurse and are available to everyone. Patients do not need an appointment. Most centres are open 365 days a year and outside office hours, dealing with minor illnesses and injuries.
